Crispy Baked Party Wings

The classic party appetizer and always a hit for game day. To make the wings crispy without frying, cornstarch is used in the coating.

Baking the wings on a rack is important so that the fat can drain off for the wings to be crispy on all sides.

Here are some other options for the sauce:

  • Add honey / brown sugar

  • Add ginger / soy sauce

  • Add minced garlic and heat with the butter

Baked Party Wings

Ingredients

3 lbs party wings

2 Tablespoons oil

2 Tablespoons cornstarch

Seasonings: salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, etc.

1/2-1 cup buffalo wing sauce (based on spice level)

1/4 - 1/2 cup butter, melted

Optional Serving: celery, ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place a wire rack over a baking sheet lined with foil.

Place wings in a large bowl and pat dry with paper towels. Toss wings with oil, seasonings and cornstarch to coat evenly.

Arrange wings in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake wings until cooked through and skin is crispy, 45–50 minutes, turning them over halfway.

Melt butter in the microwave or saucepan. Add buffalo sauce and stir together.

(Or heat in a pot, big enough to fit the wings after cooking to mix together with sauce)

Transfer wings to a large bowl. Pour the sauce over and toss to coat evenly. Place on serving platter and serve with dressing or celery.
